BOGUE CHITTO — No one was injured in two trailer fires this weekend and three pets were also saved. One fire occurred Friday night around 8 p.m. and the other Sunday night around 10 p.m.

Bogue Chitto, Hog Chain and Zetus Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a trailer fire on Quinn Road Sunday night. Occupants of the household were able to escape but two kittens were still trapped inside. Firefighters and a fire truck got on scene in six minutes from dispatch and were able to rescue the two kittens. The Zetus Volunteer Fire Department reported the fire was stopped before it spread too far.

Friday night, Zetus, Hog Chain, Bogue Chitto and Loyd Star Fire Departments responded to a trailer fire on US84 west before Breckenridge Lane. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and KDMC assisted on the call.

Zetus reported the fire was in the attic which proved to be a challenge. Firefighters were able to get a knockdown on the blaze. Smoke and water damage were reported but many of the contents were saved from damage.

One of the valued possessions which survived the fire Friday night was the family’s betta fish. The homeowner walked out of the structure with a fish bowl and stated the fish was still alive.
