Brookhaven woman nominated for ‘Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Salute to Greatness Award’ for community impact

Cathy May, an employee of St. Andrew’s Thrift Store in Brookhaven, has been nominated for the “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Salute to Greatness Award.”

Thaddeus Edmonson Sr., founder and president of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee of the Pine Belt Mississippi, said he met May at the Thrift Store and was impressed with her kindness, helpfulness and overall attitude. 

“Your impactful work in the community has made you a beacon light and shining example for those who wish to follow in your footsteps,” the official nomination reads. “The mission of the awards committee is to recognize unsung individuals [who] provide relentless and selfless contributions to society.”
