BROOKHAVEN — A Brookhaven Police Officer was involved in a two vehicle crash on Brookway Boulevard Thursday night. The crash occurred just before Sonic as the officer was traveling west bound in a patrol car.
Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins said the officer was taken to Kings Daughters Medical Center and released with minor injuries. The officer is expected to return to work soon.
Collins said the officer was blindsided by a man leaving the parking lot east of Sonic. Call reports showed the crash occurred around 10:10 p.m. Thursday.
“He never knew what hit him. The other driver never checked up,” Collins said. “The main thing is the officer is okay.”
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash. Sheriff Steve Rushing said they are verifying some follow up information but tickets would be issued Friday. No arrests were made.
