Funeral services for James Samuel Howard will be held, January 14, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi at 1:00 pm. Cemetery Services will follow with burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 30 minutes before the funeral services. Brookhaven Funeral Home will oversee the arrangements.
James Samuel Howard (70) passed away peacefully at VA Medical Center on Jan 10, 2025, while embraced by his loving wife, after a courageous battle with Systemic Lupus. He was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Brookhaven, MS, where his faith was a guiding light though out his life. He was a US Army Veteran and a small business owner. He could repair just about anything. He will never be forgotten for his generous hand. James was the beloved son of the late, James Thomas Howard and Lanelle Dickerson Howard.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Ana K. Howard, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. Together, they built a family that was the center of James’ world.
He leaves behind his children, who were his pride and joy: Jennyfer Campbell Howard of Overland Park, KS, and her husband Richard Campbell, Paul Howard of Gainesville, GA, and his wife Carol Howard, and Cindy Dickinson Howard of Dawsonville, GA, and her fiancé, Brian L. Knight. James was a devoted grandfather to five Grandchildren: Caelan Aycock, Julia Malley, Cheyenne Dickinson, Chloe Howard, and Penelope Howard, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
James’ legacy extends to his siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will remember him for his kindness, resilience, and the warmth he shared with everyone he met.
Throughout nearly four decades of living with Systemic Lupus, James demonstrated remarkable strength and grace, inspiring all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and perseverance. James Samuel Howard will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
