BROOKHAVEN — District 5 Supervisor Doug Falvey took his seat at the right hand of newly-elected Lincoln County Board of Supervisor President Keith Lewis Monday morning. Supervisors elected Lewis with a unanimous vote 4-0 as District 1 Supervisor Jerry Wilson was not present.
District 4 Supervisor Eli Ferguson made a motion to elect District 3 supervisor John David Hart to serve as vice president. Supervisors unanimously elected Hart to the vice president role 4-0.
Falvey spoke as he moved to his new seat.
“I appreciate the cooperation,” Falvey said. “We have been able to work, communicate and serve together. We have the county at heart and it means a lot. It has been a pleasure to serve as president.”
Lewis, who serves as District 2 Supervisor, echoed Falvey’s thoughts about cooperation following the meeting. He previously worked with the City of Brookhaven.
“It is an honor. I think this is the most working-together board I’ve ever been around,” Lewis said. “It isn’t just for districts, it is for the whole County.”
He said as board president he expects the board to tackle roads, bridges and dealing with dead trees.
The City of Brookhaven is expected to move out of the courthouse by Dec. 2025 and Lewis said they will deal with the change.
