Horseshoe Bend

Hi, all! Just a thought.
A brand new year is upon us. So what does that mean? Literally, it doesn’t really mean much more than at any other time of the year. Each new day is a blessing, regardless of when it comes. But as we look at our calendars and see a new year dawning each January, there is always a sense of renewal in the air.
We may make resolutions, and we might make plans of new things to try or places to go. We might just settle in, finally, to where God has placed us, content to be as He has intended.
That’s what we might do. That’s what could happen. But, where are you really in your walk with the Lord as we begin a new year?
A subject about which I’ve written several times is on my mind again today. I believe there is an urgency among God’s people to truly, completely, and wholly be ALL that He has called us each to be. That includes simply being who we claim to be — a child of God, a Christian, one who wears His name.
So I show you another of my pictures from a trip to Arizona. North of the Grand Canyon, just off Highway 89, and just south of the Utah state line in a town called Page, you can visit this beautiful spot on the Colorado River known as Horseshoe Bend.
As usual, photos just cannot do it justice. The magnificence of the Lord’s creation is awe-inspiring here, as in so many other places. But you can look down below and see exactly why this particular spot in that majestic river is called by that name. You see the shape of the horseshoe. So simple, yet also, I believe, so profound.
For if only the world could take just one glance at us and know that we are named “Christian” because of the One to Whom we belong. If only they could tell that we belong to the King of Kings, what a statement we could make for Him, especially as we enter the gift of another new year.
This coming year, may I strongly urge you each to take courage, stand tall, and as the old hymn says, “Let others see Jesus in you.” We have a mission to accomplish, and so little time to work.
Just a thought. ’Til later.
