A 63-year-old woman was killed in a Saturday morning wreck on Interstate 55 in Lincoln County. 

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on Dec. 28, the Mississippi Highway Patrol was dispatched to a crash on the interstate near mile marker 48, six miles north of Brookhaven’s northernmost exit.

A 2016 Jeep Renegade, driven by Teletha Johnson of Pearl, was traveling north on the interstate when it left the roadway. The vehicle collided with a guardrail and became submerged in a drainage ditch. 

Johnson, age 63, suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
