BROOKHAVEN — Light dark smoke puffed into the blue sky Friday afternoon in east Brookhaven. Three engines from Brookhaven Fire Department responded to a call of a burn pile that got out of control shortly after 3 p.m.

By 3:25 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the fire and cleared the scene on Harold Price Trail. A volunteer firefighter with Heucks Retreat Volunteer Fire Department and Brookhaven Police Department responded to the call to assist Brookhaven Fire.
