Severe weather is possible Friday morning into weekend

BROOKHAVEN — Snow is not in the forecast but severe weather certainly is. National Weather Service warns isolated storms could move through Lincoln County in the wee hours of Friday morning followed by more hazards this weekend.

Friday’s isolated severe storms could bring damaging wind gusts and tornadoes can not be ruled out. NWS Jackson advises the storms could threaten between 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Friday. Those hours could change as the forecast is updated.

Severe storms will be possible for the area Saturday into Saturday night. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph will be associated with those storms. Hail up to a half dollar in size could accompany rain and tornadoes are possible.

Starting tonight, heavy rainfall could threaten the area with localized flash flooding into the weekend. Anywhere between 3 to 5 inches of rain could fall over the next few days. NWS Jackson advises a few rounds of heavy rainfall could begin tonight into Saturday night.
