Saturday severe weather upgraded to enhanced risk

BROOKHAVEN — Severe weather forecast for Saturday is now an enhanced risk. National Weather Service warns first that isolated storms could move through Lincoln County in the wee hours of Friday morning followed by more hazards this weekend.
Friday’s isolated severe storms could bring damaging wind gusts and tornadoes can not be ruled out. NWS Jackson advises the storms could threaten between 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Friday. Those hours could change as the forecast is updated.
Severe storms will be possible for the area Saturday into Saturday night and pose an enhanced risk. The storms could have damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph will be associated with those storms. Large hail up to a golf ball in size could accompany rain and tornadoes are likely.
Starting tonight, heavy rainfall could threaten the area with localized flash flooding into the weekend. Anywhere between 3 to 5 inches of rain could fall over the next few days. NWS Jackson advises a few rounds of heavy rainfall could begin tonight into Saturday night.
