Forecast warns of isolated severe storms Thursday night

BROOKHAVEN — Isolated severe storms could move through Lincoln County Thursday night into Friday morning. The National Weather Service further warns of heavy rainfall going into this weekend

Damaging wind gusts are possible with the isolated severe storms and tornadoes can not be ruled out. NWS Jackson advises the storms should roll through southwest Mississippi between 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. Friday.

NWS states from Thursday night into the weekend there is a risk for a portion of Lincoln County to see three to five inches of rain. Localized flash flooding is possible especially in low lying areas and urban areas. Heavy rounds of rainfall could start Thursday night and continue into the weekend.

Chances of rainfall Friday are 80 percent with a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday.
