It is written:

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, ‘God with us.’” [Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV)].

Some seven centuries before the fact Isaiah wrote these words; indeed, the birth of Jesus was written of as a certainty, not a mere prediction, and there are other passages that bear supporting witness to the future birth of our Lord.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord will perform this” [Isaiah 9:6-7].

Once again, Isaiah speaks of future events as though they have already occurred. When we consider Isaiah’s prophecy in light of John’s statement about Jesus in Revelation 13:8, we can see that if Jesus was ordained (by God) before creation to give His life on the cross; then it follows that His birth must have also been ordained thousands of years before Isaiah wrote his prophecies about Jesus.

The accounts of Jesus birth in Matthew reveal the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecies: Matthew 1:21, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” That which was already ordained by God is now made manifest on Earth, the Kingdom of God has collided with His creation in a most unorthodox way. Although this event was written about from the very beginning, nearly everyone was caught by surprise. Even the keepers of the word, the Scribes and Pharisees, those who could quote much of the existing scriptures by heart, were unable to reconcile what had happened.

It is written:

Long before any prophetic announcement concerning Jesus, millennia before Gabriel spoke to Mary, God’s plan was written on Jesus’ heart as though it were chiseled in stone. He would come just as the word said, and He would go just as the word said.

It is written:

“Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
