BROOKHAVEN — Jack Frost could be visiting this Friday and into the weekend. The National Weather Service forecasts frost to develop Friday night into Saturday morning across central and southwest Mississippi.
Temperatures could drop to around 34 degrees in Lincoln County with patchy frost possible starting Friday night. This could cause minor damage to unprotected vegetation.
The good news for anyone who loathes the cold weather is temperatures will heat up again during the day time to 64 Saturday. Sunday’s high will reach 72 degrees and the low will be around 57 degrees Sunday night. Monday night’s low is expected to be around 58 degrees.
Recent rainfall has helped Lincoln County reach almost normal soil moisture levels according to the United States Forest Service. The bad news, strong wind gusts and low relative humidity forecast for Thursday has increased our wildfire danger rating to high.
