George William Upton

In loving memory of George William Upton Jr., born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on February 22, 1943 and passed away at Haven Hall Health Care Center in Brookhaven, Mississippi on November 17, 2024. He was 81 years old. George was a dear son of the late George and Frances Upton.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandra Cotten Upton; brother, Dennis Upton (Margaret); children, Chris Douglas (Rick), George III (Kristy), and Valerie Naquin (Sam); stepdaughters, Kipp Ready (Jeff) and Lindie Rayborn; grandchildren, Kyle Taylor, Jack Douglas, Sarah Frances Douglas, Ben Naquin, and Tess Naquin; step-grandchildren, Trevor Freeman (Marlee), Delanie Miller, and Holden Miller; and step-great-granddaughter, Vaeda Freeman.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy 1963-1967 aboard the U.S.S. Rogers. He was honorably discharged with a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. time of service on November 20, 2024, at Brookhaven Funeral Home.  Dr. Hal Kitchings of Easthaven Baptist Church, where George was a member, will officiate. He was an expert in plastic injection molding and had a successful career with various companies, including the Associated Press, Delphi Automotive, and Battenfeld Technologies. He most enjoyed traveling around the globe with Sandra; together, they visited 69 countries.
