1 killed, 1 arrested, others wanted in McComb shooting

One person is dead, one arrested, and three or four more are wanted after an armed altercation in McComb Thursday.

McComb Police Department officers responded to calls of a suspicious vehicle in the area of 25th Street, near Family Dollar and Peterbilt. When officers arrived and encountered the vehicle, two persons exited the car and one presented a weapon aimed at the officers.

The officers both fired their weapons in response, striking and fatally injuring one of the subjects. The other individual was arrested. Neither officer suffered serious physical injuries.

Three or four other people are believed to have been inside the vehicle, a gray 2016 Dodge Charger, tag number PJP357.

“If you see this vehicle, please call 9-1-1 immediately, do not approach,” said Bailey Martin of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. “They are believed to be armed and dangerous.”

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident and gathering evidence. Upon completion of the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
