The third MAIS 5A state championship in the last four years for Brookhaven Academy recently yielded an expected haul of postseason awards for the program. Head coach Lisa Covington was named MAIS 5A Coach of the Year and senior pitcher Ann Elise Duncan was tabbed as the MAIS 5A Player of the Year. Also named to the MAIS 5A All-State team were junior Morgan Chemin, senior Kensy Covington, and senior Anniston Poole. Covington and assistant coach Scott Poole led the Cougars to a 30-5 record and a championship series win over Parklane Academy.
