BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Board of Supervisors discussed a number of things in executive session Monday morning. The board voted to take action on four items.
Lincoln County Board Attorney Greg Malta explained one of the actions was to purchase land on Bethel Road to widen the approach to a bridge. It was an issue needing to be resolved before work could start on replacing the bridge crossing Jordan Creek with timber components.
Supervisors voted for the county to file a claim against Arrow Disposal Services Inc. for failure to meet central obligations in their contract signed in 2018. Waste Management took over as the new garbage collection company this month. Malta explained ADSI essentially walked off and abandoned trash services near the end of the contract.
The board voted to authorize an easement near Lewis Street in Bogue Chitto for garbage collection. Malta said the easement would allow garbage pickup for seven different families who otherwise would have had to take their can to the public roadway.
Lincoln County supervisors voted to approve the transfer of real property from the County to Heucks Retreat Baptist Church. Malta explained as the property developed there was a duplicate public road crossing the church’s property which is used as a parking lot.
“We are going to abandon the duplicate road closest to the church,” Malta said. “It isn’t functional as a public road and we are just transferring the ownership to the church.”
