On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, after a two-day trial in the Circuit Court of Pike County, a jury found 47-year-old Tommy Redmond guilty of burglary of a dwelling.

The case arose from an Oct. 26, 2021, incident in which Redmond broke into the home of a female victim and her children and attempted to assault her. Due to the quick response of the McComb Police Department, Redmond was taken into custody while he was still inside the home.

Circuit Judge Michael Taylor sentenced Redmond to 25 years, to serve the first 20 in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

“I would like to thank the McComb Police Department for their quick response in helping get this violent offender off of our streets,” said District Attorney Brendon Adams. “People should be able to feel safe in their homes. A man or woman’s home is their castle. A victim of this type of crime will never again have the comfort and peace of mind that they are truly safe inside of their home. While we cannot take back what happened to the victim, we are sending a message that we hold those who break the law accountable for their actions. She can now at least have the peace of mind that he has been brought to justice.”

Assistant DAs Robert Byrd and Sebastian Harrell prosecuted the case.

Burglary of a dwelling is one of the most emotional and terrorizing crimes that a victim can go through. These guys worked with the victims, witnesses, and our law enforcement partners to bring Mr. Redmond to justice.”
