NEW SIGHT — A Hazlehurst man died in a one vehicle car accident on I-55 Wednesday night. Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace reported the man was dead on scene. 

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M reported the crash occurred on the northbound side around Mile Marker 47. First responders with KDMC, Lincoln County Sheriff Office, Mississippi Highway Patrol and New Sight Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene around 8:56 p.m. Wednesday. 

MHP reports a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Emanuel Williams of Hazlehurst was traveling north when the vehicle left the roadway, overturned and collided with trees. Williams, 37, suffered fatal injuries from the crash. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
