A Community Safety Forum will take place Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Easthaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven. The 6 p.m. event is free and open to the public.
Topics of discussion are fentanyl, gun violence, and sexual assault. Fourteenth Judicial District Attorney Brendon Adams will be the guest speaker.
The event is presented in partnership with the DA’s Office and the Office of Attorney General Lynn Fitch. Fitch’s One Pill Can Kill emphasis stresses the dangers of fentanyl.
How can I protect myself against fentanyl?
- Do not take pills provided by someone other than a doctor or pharmacist.
- Be cautious of pills offered to you, and assume they are fake. You cannot smell or taste fentanyl contamination.
- Pills purchase through social media and websites may not be safe.
- Fentanyl concentration can vary widely. Do not assume if one pill is safe, the others in the same batch will be, also.
- Never use illegal pills when alone.
- If you or a loved one may be at risk of an overdose, have naloxone accessible and known how to use it.
