JACKSON — Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Commissioners went into executive session Wednesday for around 10 minutes. Acting commission lawyer Doug Mann said the session was to discuss real property.
MDWFP commissioners did not take any action but Mann was able to announce the agency was working to purchase property close to Marion County WMA. At this time, MDWFP was not able to release the cost or acreage of the property they are looking at.
Mann confirmed the purchase would expand Marion County WMA. MDWFP has met a few times in the past year to discuss potential property purchases but had not been able to say much else.
MDWFP commissioners will meet again on October 24 at the agency’s headquarters in Jackson. Executive Director Lynn Posey said there would be an educational session of some sort at 10 a.m. followed by a business session at 11 a.m.
