BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Tax Collector/Assessor Blake Pickering said new cans from Waste Management are being delivered across the county. Waste Management’s contract begins Oct. 1 after Arrow Disposal Services Inc.’s contract ends on Sept. 30. 

Pickering said residents should continue to use the blue trash cans for ADSI until the contract expires. ADSI will not pick up out of the green Waste Management cans. Blue cans should be picked up by ADSI at the end of the contract. 

Lincoln County Administrator Daniel Calcote said the new Waste Management cans should have instructions for how the cans need to be placed and positioned by the road. Waste Management is using automated trucks to collect garbage. 

Solid Waste rates will not go up for residents in the county at this time although fees have gone up for Brookhaven residents. It is possible there could be a fee increase down the road.
