BROOKHAVEN — Warriors of the Badge will host the 4th annual 9/11 walk and memorial run to honor the 343 firefighters and paramedics who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The event is scheduled to start at 8:46 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2024.

The start time is significant because it marks the moment the first airplane struck the north tower of the World Trade Center. Just 17 minutes later, a second plane crashed into the south tower. A third plane crashed into the Pentagon and a fourth and final plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

People can register at the Brookhaven Central Fire Station located at 314 Brookhaven Street starting at 8 a.m. on Sept. 14 with a 9/11 program at 8:25 a.m. Entry fee for the event is simply a donation. All proceeds benefit first responders killed or critically injured in the line of duty.
