Department of Public Safety investigating fatal McComb crash

MCCOMB — A fatal crash which killed a Brookhaven man last week in McComb is under investigation by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau. Two additional subjects in the crash received critical injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace identified the man as Christopher Woodall. He leaves behind 11 children and his wife Shannon who is in the hospital with serious injuries. A GoFundMe page is raising funds for the family and to cover funeral expenses.
According to Bailey Martin, Public Relations for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred after 11:07 p.m. on Delaware Avenue in McComb on August 30th.
“A McComb police officer received a call regarding an individual driving recklessly near a Waffle House. When the officer initiated his emergency lights, the vehicle fled, crashing into a second vehicle,” Martin said. “No pursuit occurred with the vehicle and the police officer…Due to this being an open and ongoing investigation no further comment will be made.”
