A body has been found in a burned car in Lawrence County.

On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 1, Sheriff Ryan Everett said he received a report from a property owner of a burned car that a family member had discovered on his property.

“I immediately notified our investigators and the MBI Agent that is assisting us with our missing persons case of the discovery and the location,” said Everett. “At the time of discovery, we were able to confirm that there was a deceased subject in the vehicle. We are hoping that DNA analysis will assist us in identification, very soon.”

Everett said details released will be limited until the remains are identified and family is notified.
