BROOKHAVEN — Students walked in to Brookhaven Elementary School bumping fists in a tunnel of football players. It is game day for Brookhaven High School and the last day of school this week for students.

All across Brookhaven Elementary School’s campus, football players opened car doors and greeted students as they arrived for class. Some students were well dressed for the occasion wearing Ole Brook shirts, cheerleader outfits and small Ole Brook jerseys.

One parent drove past the school shouting words of encouragement to hype up the football players. Teachers asked some of the players what grade they were in. Upon discovering the players were seniors, the teachers remarked it was time to retire.

Brookhaven High School travels to Monticello tonight to take on Lawrence County.
