BOGUE CHITTO — A thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon sparked a small fire. Volunteer firefighters were able to put out the flames with the only visible damage being a few charred wooden boards.

Lightning is believed to be the cause of the fire. Volunteers from Hog Chain, Bogue Chitto and Zetus examined the shop and a shed next door for signs of where a lightning strike made its path. Pine straw on the roof of the shop caught fire and was put out.

A thermal imaging device was then used to check the building to ensure there were no other hot spots or areas where a fire could rekindle.
