NEW SIGHT — A grass fire in an agricultural field along I-55 is under control. The smoke column could be seen as far away as the Mt. Zion exit Tuesday afternoon.

New Sight Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the location a mile or two north of the north Brookhaven exit and responded with three engines. The landowner was on scene and disking a fire break with a tractor.

The fire appears to be under control and New Sight units cleared the scene.
