Brookhaven needs a ____

Published 8:20 am Friday, August 23, 2024

When I first moved to Lincoln County one of the first things I told my coworkers was the community needed a new grocery store. Sure enough, ALDI is coming to Brookway Boulevard to replace Save-A-Lot this year.

I’ll be honest, in the two years I’ve lived in Lincoln County I never stepped foot in Save-A-Lot and most of the time I forgot it was there. Sullivans is my grocery store of choice right now. People complain about the prices compared to Walmart and I would say that is baloney. You get what you pay for in customer service and quality.

I hope ALDI delivers on the customer service and quality while offering better hours than Sullivans. I was thrown for a loop when I tried to shop there after 8 p.m. following a Board of Alderman meeting. If I managed to wish ALDI into Brookhaven maybe I can wish something else to come to Brookhaven.

Brookhaven needs a Braum’s. You may be wondering what a Braum’s is. Is it a cow or a fine sit down restaurant serving steak?

It is simply a 3-in-1 stop for ice cream, dairy and fast food headquartered in Oklahoma City. Out of all the things I miss about Northwest Arkansas, Braum’s is at the top of my list.

Most people go to Braum’s for the ice cream, although their chicken sandwich is solid. What stands out about this company is the store sells ice cream made with milk from 15,000 cows the family raises on two dairy farms in Oklahoma.

In addition to serving ice cream cones, the restaurant has a dairy section where customers can shop for milk and tubs of ice cream like they are at a grocery store. I doubt Braum’s will ever come to Brookhaven given most of the franchise is in Oklahoma but I can always hope maybe one day it will add a location here.

We all have thoughts on what Brookhaven needs and we would love to hear your thoughts.
