Update: Old St. John fire investigation

BROOKHAVEN — A State fire investigation continues for a house fire on Old St. John Road on July 15. No one was hurt or killed in the early morning fire.
Volunteer firefighters with New Sight and Heucks Retreat Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene where the home was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to protect nearby structures. One trailer suffered minor damage to its siding and a vehicle near the home suffered minor damage.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office asked the Mississippi State Fire Marshal Office to help investigate the fire. The fire remains under investigation according to the Mississippi State Fire Marshal Office. Due to the ongoing investigation no further comment could be provided.
A fire which destroyed McKenzie Metals in Brookhaven on July 14 was investigated by the State Fire Marshal. The cause of the McKenzie Metals fire was released as undetermined on July 31.

For comparison, the fire investigation of the Stahl-Urban fire took from Feb. 26 to April 23. It took over a year for the Fire Marshal Office to finish the investigation into the Brookhaven Apartments which burned on Feb. 26, 2023 and killed two residents. The investigation concluded on April 23, 2024.
