BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Engineer Ryan Holmes had good news for supervisors Monday morning. Bridges in the county were making considerable progress.

Holmes updated District 4 Supervisor Eli Ferguson on the progress of bridge replacement in his district. The bridge being replaced is on Auburn Road.

“We will break concrete cylinders tomorrow. The plan is to set the spans this week and maybe drive the final piling Friday if not this week it would be early next week,” Holmes said.

In District 5, Supervisor Doug Falvey is getting closer to replacing his last fully timber bridge on Opelousas Lane. Holmes said progress has been quick. There are also bridge construction projects getting closer to work starting in Supervisor Keith Lewis’s District 2

“They have poured the concrete. I’ve been impressed,” Holmes said. “They are moving good. We are pushing now on old 51 and Lott Smith. We are getting really close on those and looking at setting a good date.”

Lott Smith is a line road between District 2 and 5.

Holmes said paving projects in District 1 are nearly complete. Rev. Jerry Wilson, District 1 Supervisor, grinned at the good news.

HVAC repairs to the courthouse are coming once the weather cools off. Holmes told the board there hasn’t been a delay on any of the parts or supplies yet.
