Foundation raising funds for Officer Floyd’s widow

BROOKHAVEN — In memory of fallen officer Troy Floyd, Mississippi Police Benevolent Association and Police Benevolent Foundation are requesting donations to support Floyd’s widow Sage Floyd. Lincoln County resident Floyd was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon. 

Floyd was shot and killed while conducting a vehicle checkpoint on duty with the Summit Police Department. A suspect identified as Usher Leonard was later shot and killed by two McComb police officers. The two officers were also shot and injured. 

He was a Brookhaven native, a law enforcement officer for 27 years and a Christian who shared the good news with anyone he met.

Floyd leaves behind his wife Sage Floyd; children, Raiden Floyd, Carlyanna Nicholson and Jacob Floyd. Other survivors include brother Eddie Floyd, Jr., sisters, Cristi Montgomery, Terry Hedgepeth, Missy Freeman and two grandchildren, Morgan Floyd and Brancin Floyd.
