BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County saw measurable rainfall Friday afternoon bringing the rain streak to nine consecutive days of rainfall. There is a chance the streak could continue and possibly set new records.
The longest streak of measurable rainfall recorded in the National Weather Service Jackson area was in June 1983 with 13 straight days of rainfall ending on June 27. If the forecasts hold true, the July 2024 streak of rainy days could end up in the top 10. The streak reached 9 straight days of measurable rainfall to tie records set in 2004 and 1957.
Saturday has a 90 percent chance of showers, Sunday has an 80 percent chance of showers and thunder storms and Monday has a 60 percent chance of showers.
Rain chances will fall a little bit next Tuesday to a 50 percent chance. Wednesday and Thursday will drop to 30 percent chances of rain as well.
