Paris Olympics Saturday TV schedule is a marathon of athletics

PARIS — Friday’s TV schedule was full of pomp and circumstance as the 2024 Summer Olympics celebrated the opening ceremonies. Team USA suffered a tough defeat in the quarterfinals of the Rugby Sevens tournament Thursday and will get to enjoy the trip to Paris.

Saturday’s TV schedule is a little more action packed. One could say it is a day long marathon as a variety of sports get started.

Badminton group play in mens, women’s and mixed will start at 1:30 a.m. on Peacock. If watching athletes play with a shuttlecock, the name for the badminton projectile, early morning is not your idea of a good time then another option is men’s volleyball which will start at 2 a.m with Japan playing Germany on Peacock.

Rowing heats will start at 2 a.m. as well. Men’s handball play with Spain and Slovenia will start at 2 a.m. Horse enthusiasts can enjoy the dressage competition starting at 2:30 a.m.

Men’s field hockey action featuring Britan vs Spain will start at 3 a.m. Judo competition starts at 3 a.m. and fencing will be on at the same time.

Mixed team air rifle finals will start at 3:30 a.m. At the same time, Belgium will face off against Ireland in a 3:30 a.m. start for men’s field hockey.

Women’s synchronized diving finals will start at 4 a.m. The qualifying round of men’s gymnastics will begin at 4 a.m. as well. Viewers can watch team USA with a special tracker stream on Peacock.

Swimming for men and women will begin at 4 a.m. Basketball will tip off with men’s teams from Austraila and Spain starting at 4 a.m.

Men’s handball between Hungary and Egypt will start at 4 a.m.

Anyone who loves skateboarding should tune in to the action at 5 a.m. Men’s street preliminary round in skateboarding will be on.

Mississippi State alumni Nuno Borges will represent Portugal in the Men’s Singles Tennis, first round of tennis play begins at 5 a.m.

The Netherlands will play the Republic of South Africa at 5:45 a.m. in field hockey. Starting shortly after Italy and Brazil will serve up men’s volleyball action at 6 a.m. Men’s field hockey teams Australia and Argentina will face off at 6:15 a.m.

Basketball action tips off for Germany and Japan at 6:30 a.m.

If you are missing the Tour de France action, cycling in the olympics will start at 7 a.m. on NBC. At the same time, team USA will play Cuba in beach volleyball at 7 a.m. Croatia and Japan will play each other in men’s handball at the same time.

Women’s water polo between the Netherlands and Hungary will start at 7 a.m. Rugby’s bronze and golf finals will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Men’s soccer returns to actin at 8 a.m. after a wild start to the olympics. Dominican Republic will kickoff against Spain at 8 a.m., Argentina will kickoff against Iraq at 8 a.m. Beach volleyball action continues at 8 a.m. with the Sweden and Austraila’s mens teams.

Canoing and kayaking will begin at 8 a.m. along with table tennis. Boxing starts at 8:30 a.m.

Team USA will take to the water at 8:35 to play Greece in women’s water polo.

Men’s Handball will start at 9 a.m. for Norway and Argentina while the Judo finals continue.

Ukraine will take on Morocco in men’s soccer at 10 a.m., Uzbekistan will play Egypt in men’s soccer at 10 a.m.

Men’s volleyball action continues at 10 a.m. with Poland vs Egypt. In men’s field hockey, Germany will face off against France at the same time.

Men’s Basketball will tip-off action between France and Brazil at 10:15 a.m. Men’s field hockey between India and New Zealand will start at 10:30 a.m.

Women’s beach volleyball will continue at 11:a.m. with China playing Australia. Women’s water polo between Spain and France will start at 11:30 a.m.

Team USA will take on New Zealand in Men’s Soccer at 12 p.m. The US team needs a win after losing their first game of the Olympics to France 3-0. At the same time, Israel will take on Paraguay in Men’s Soccer at 12 p.m.

If you are tired of ball sports by lunch time, surfing finals start at the noon. If you are not tired of the volleyball action, men’s beach volleyball between Brazil and Morocco will start at noon. Men’s handball will continue with Germany taking on Sweden at noon.

Team USA will take on Argentina in women’s field hockey at 12:45 p.m.

Women’s water polo action between Australia and China will start at 1:05 p.m. Women’s field hockey between the Netherlands and France will start at 1:15 p.m.

Men’s basketball group play continues at 2 p.m. between Greece and Canada.

Men’s soccer continues at 2 p.m. with Japan and Mali kicking off. France and Guinea will kickoff at the same time.

Team USA’s men’s volleyball will take on Argentina at 2 p.m. Woman’s beach volleyball will start at 3 p.m. against our friendly neighbors to the north, Canada.

Handball between Denmark and France will start at 2 p.m.

Men’s beach volleyball between Italy and Qatar will start at 4 p.m.
