Area students earn university honors, scholarship

Smithdale student Lise Berryhill has been named to the Dean’s List at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Dean’s List students are full-time students who have earned a grade-point average of 3.7 to 4.0 for the semester.

Halle Carr of Hazlehurst has been named to the Dean’s List at Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee, where she is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student. Dean’s List students must have a minimum 3.4 GPA.

Brady Spring of Brookhaven graduated Cum Laude from Freed-Hardeman with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

Keelin Cuevas of Brookhaven was named to the Dean’s List at The University of Alabama. Dean’s List students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. 

Ashley Baker, of Smithdale, is one of three Mississippi State University College of Education students to recently be awarded a $1,000 Mississippi Professional Educators scholarship. She is pursuing a master’s degree in elementary education.
