BROOKHAVEN — Work is underway at the former home of 601 Sports and Save-A-Lot at 840 Brookway Boulevard to renovate for a new tenant. 601 Sports moved down the sidewalk to 820 Brookway Boulevard in what was previously Rite Aid in April. Save-A-Lot closed in April. 

Brookhaven Building Inspector David Fearn confirmed work is underway to take out the center wall between the two stores as one big spot for the national grocery store chain ALDI. The company announced plans to open in Brookhaven in April 2024. 

No official opening date is announced yet but the company stated it would be this year. Mississippi is currently home to 12 ALDI locations. Check back for more updates on business news.
