BROOKHAVEN — A new Mexican restaurant is coming to Brookhaven. City Building Inspector David Fearn confirmed the news Monday afternoon. 

Dumpsters, fresh timber and construction equipment could be seen in front of what used to be home to El Dorado at 912 Brookway Blvd. El Dorado closed in May 2023. Fearn confirmed the space is under renovation for Mexican restaurant El Sombrero. 

The news confirms past rumors of the return of El Sombrero to Brookhaven and the Boulevard. 

Fearn said his office got an application from El Sombrero for a building permit to renovate the space last week.

Down the boulevard, Fearn said Burger King is replacing their signs and making a second drive-thru lane. The fast food joint is located at 778 Brookway Blvd. and currently has the driveway blocked off.
