BROOKHAVEN — A small chance of showers Wednesday afternoon featured thunder and gusty winds in downtown Brookhaven Wednesday. A special weather statement issued by NWS Jackson warns of 40 mph wind gusts and pea sized possible hail is possible for central Lincoln County and Copiah County until 5 p.m.

Severe storms were a possibility to the west along the Mississippi River. Radar indicates there is a strong thunderstorm moving through Lincoln County which could cause minor wind and hail damage. Anyone outside should take shelter.
