A suspect is still on the run after one man died following an armed robbery at the Wesson Truck Stop just before midnight Tuesday.
Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said they have not received any new reports about the suspect Thursday. Deputies checked into a few reports of the suspect in the northern part of Lincoln County Wednesday.
The suspect carjacked a customer and shot him. The man later died at the hospital. A surveilance camera footage showed the suspect had a mask, sunglasses and a hoodie on.
“The offender left in the victim’s car and abandoned it a short distance later,” Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley said in a statement Wednesday morning. “At this time the offender is not in custody and more details will be released once the video footage is released.”
The victim has been identified by family members as Vince Ratliff of Wesson.
The public should assume the suspect is armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect should call the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office at 601-892-2023 or 9-1-1.
Swilley was not able to give an immediate update Thursday afternoon.
Wednesday’s shooting follows a shooting on I-55 which killed two students on Sunday.
