BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Board of Supervisors confirmed they would meet earlier than normal next Monday for a regularly scheduled meeting. The meetings typically start at 9 a.m. but this one was moved to 8:30 a.m.
Lincoln County Administrator Daniel Calcote, who will be on vacation next week, said the meeting needed to be moved up so Lincoln County and City of Brookhaven could meet with potential trash vendors Monday at 10 a.m. Arrow Disposal Services Incorporated’s contract with Lincoln County will expire on September 30, 2024.
The meeting will be for trash companies to answer questions from County and City leaders before the bids for the services are due June 3, 2024.
“We are asking in the bid for 3 years and 3 years or, what they had requested, for 6 years and 6 years. They have two options to show us the difference,” Calcote said. “The city didn’t ask for that. I wanted to see what difference it would make.”
Tuesday’s docket meeting was relatively uneventful. Supervisors approved the travel of Chris Reid to an association meeting in Philadelphia. Calcote told the board they were on track budget wise.
Supervisors were scheduled to meet Monday but spent much of the day clearing roads from downed trees.
