JACKSON — Early forecasts indicate another bout of severe storms will hit Lincoln County Thursday into Friday. The National Weather Service warns of a slight risk of severe storms and possible flooding.
Severe storms and tornadoes are possible with the slight risk to Lincoln County and southwest Mississippi. NWS Jackson warns the storms could come between Thursday evening to Friday evening. The severe weather threat is still several days away and more updates will come.
A threat of flooding is connected with those storms. Water systems already experiencing high runoff could see more. NWS Jackson warns 2-to-4 inches of rain is expected over a short period of time. Localized flash flooding is also possible particularly in low lying and urban areas.
Lincoln County had about 2.89 inches of rain Monday according to the NWS but more could have fallen in localized areas.
