Rain cancels ball games

BROOKHAVEN — Monday thunderstorms dropped about 0.6 inches of rain on Lincoln County and as a result canceled some softball and baseball games scheduled for tonight. A slight chance of rain remains in the forecast for the next few days.
Brookhaven Recreation Department stated ball games scheduled for tonight were canceled and would be made up at a later date.
In the second round of the MHSAA Class 2A playoffs, West Lincoln and Pisgah moved their Game 3 from Monday to Tuesday. First pitch is at 6 p.m. in Pisgah. The winner of the game will advance to play Lake in the third round.
Wesson’s softball team is still alive in the playoffs and will return to play Friday against West Marion. Enterprise and Brookhaven Academy baseball teams are still alive in the playoffs. Brookhaven Academy will play Columbia Academy in the second round of the MAIS 5A playoffs starting Tuesday. Enterprise will play Taylorsville at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals of the MHAA 1A Playoffs.
