BROOKHAVEN — A fire destroyed a Brookhaven apartment complex and killed two residents on February 26, 2023. The Mississippi State Fire Marshal Office reported their investigation of the fire was complete. 

Residents Terrance Lewis and Jerry Ferdinand died in the fire at Brookwood Apartments. The charred remains of the building can still be seen on East Chippewa Street. 

SFMO reported the fire was ruled to be “undetermined,” Tuesday afternoon.  

“The definition of undetermined is that the exact cause cannot be determined because of the extent of damage,” SFMO stated.
