Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid said the fire was on Greenwood Lane and was contained to 2 acres.
The grass fire burned on Greenwood Lane SE, Bogue Chitto with the initial call around 1 p.m. The fire was to the west of MS-583. As of 3 p.m., the fire was contained and firefighters have left the scene.
Reid said a fire at Rex Lumber, which started while the old Stahl Urban warehouse burned last night, is being contained by Brookhaven Fire Department right now.
Mississippi Forestry Commission and Bogue Chitto Volunteer Fire Department Chief Blake Wallace warned of the dangers of burning with windy and dry conditions Monday. Fire could quickly spread with strong winds Tuesday.
Please refrain from burning at this time as there are windy conditions. Sustained wind speeds are at 20 to 25 mph and gusts at 30 to 40 mph.
NWS Jackson additionally warns the strong winds could cause trees to break or fall. High profile vehicles may become unsteady in the winds.
