BROOKHAVEN — Mississippi Department of Health reports five local restaurants and fast food joints aced restaurant inspections this past week. The establishments are on Brookway Boulevard, Chickasaw Street, US51 and Monticello Street.

Huey Magoos earned an A rating from the MSDH on January 31, 2024. Located at 110 US51 NE, Huey Magoos earned its second A rating since it first opened in 2023. The fast food joint is known for its “filet mignon,” of chicken. 

Fox’s Pizza Den, located at 106 West Monticello Street, earned an A rating on January 31. It is the 10th straight A for the pizza place and 16th A rating since first inspection in 2016 according to the MSDH records.

Zaxby’s, located at 968 Brookway Boulevard, earned an A rating for the 10th straight time since 2019. MSDH reports the restaurant has earned an A rating on every inspection since it opened. 

Popeyes, located at 991 Brookway Boulevard, earned an A rating to snap a drought of B ratings Monday. MSDH reports just four inspections for the business, two resulted in B ratings and two resulted in A ratings. 

The Cookbook, located at 119 Chickasaw Street, earned an A rating for the eighth straight time since 2020. The “Takery,” is owned by Brookhaven native Katelyn Sisco. She offers homemade casseroles, sides and desserts.
