Gusty winds knock out power

BROOKHAVEN — Severe thunderstorms dumped about a quarter inch of rain in Brookhaven Friday morning with wind gusts peaking at 40 mph and sustained speeds reaching 18 mph. Wind also knocked out power in the area Friday afternoon.
Entergy reports 89 customers in Lincoln County remain without power as of 3:15 p.m. Friday. Southwest Electric reports 42 customers are without power in Lincoln County and Magnolia Electric reports 182 customers are without power at this time.
Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid said there was no reports of storm damage this morning. Gusty winds are forecast to continue today until sunset.
NWS Jackson issued a wind advisory warning of gusty winds which could cause damage, bring trees down and take out power poles until 6 p.m. Be careful while driving this afternoon. High profile vehicles could become unsteady in the winds.
