EAST LINCOLN — Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris confirmed there was a fatal accident on Mallalieu Drive Thursday night.

He reports the accident claimed the life of one teenager and sent another to the hospital. Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing reported a call for the accident came in at 11:40.

Upon arrival, they found a 2008 Pontiac passenger car had overturned several times while traveling south. A teenage driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle and the driver was declared deceased at the scene.

McMorris reported Karlie Burris, 18, was the fatality. Her lone passenger, 14, was taken Kings Daughters Medical Center and then to United Medical Center in Jackson. The passenger’s condition is unknown at this time.
