A Louisiana hunter died in the Homochitto National Forest Saturday as the result of an ATV wreck.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about 8:35 p.m. of an overturned 4-wheeler in the forest on Access Road 109-J.
A group of hunters had left on ATVs to go hunting some time 4:30-5 p.m., and one — 36-year-old Luke Caillouet of Metarie — did not return. After searching for him, the other hunters found his overturned 4-wheeler on the side of the access road, according to Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing.
“It appears he went to maneuver around a left-turning curve and left the access road and struck a tree,” Rushing said.
Caillouet was declared dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
