BROOKHAVEN — Someone can own a piece of Brookhaven history.
Magnolia Manor is up for sale and work has begun to clean up the exterior of the home. Real Estate agent Lindsey Moore Gennaro said the historic home needs to be saved. The house is listed by Betsy Smith Properties.
Magnolia Manor is located at 502 North Railroad Avenue in Brookhaven. It was built in 1865 and covers 5,764 square feet, has four bedrooms and three baths and sits on a 1.33 acre lot. The home has vaulted 14 foot ceilings. The home is listed for $195,000.
According to a publication by the Lincoln County Historical Society, it was at one point owned by the City. Brookhaven sold it to the American Legion where it became a place for dances, club meetings and a place for teenagers to hangout.
It has been owned by several other people over the years and has served as apartments, an antique store and a tea room. In 1910, owner Amanda C. Seavey conducted extensive remodeling on the home.
