Christian missionaries from North America and across the world will be in Lincoln County Sept. 21-24 for a World Missions Celebration.
“The purpose of the weekend is awareness of mission opportunities, mission mobilization, and to get folks to really examine the call of God on their lives,” Lincoln County Baptist Associational Missionary David Williams said. “That’s the whole purpose of every part of the weekend.”
The Celebration begins with a Cross-Cultural Ministry Seminar Thursday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church for all church pastors, staff and key leaders. Guest speaker is David Page, and lunch is provided.
Friday at 6:30 p.m., a dinner will be offered at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bogue Chitto, for all missionaries, church staff and spouses. The fellowship will include a time for questions and answers.
Several events will take place Saturday, beginning with a county-wide men’s breakfast and missionary fellowship at 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church Brookhaven.
A Missions Fair will be 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., also at First Baptist. Missionaries will have displays on the people they work with, and some items will be available for purchase.
“Come and meet the missionaries and get to know them,” said Williams. “This will be a great time to learn about their work, any needs they may have, and how to pray and partner with them.”
Two lunch opportunities will follow, from noon until 2 p.m. A women’s lunch will be at Easthaven Baptist Church on Hwy. 84 in Brookhaven. A panel of women missionaries will discuss their roles on the mission field and take questions. Lunch will be provided by Abby Rials and the Copiah-Lincoln Community College culinary students.
The other option is for youth and young adults at First Baptist, with lunch provided by Zaxby’s. The “God’s Call on Your Life” lunch and worship service will feature worship by Evan and Haven Busbin and speaker Boyd Herrington. The day’s events will conclude with a county-wide worship service at 6 p.m. at First Baptist. Childcare will be provided at no charge.
“Our goal is to pack First Baptist Brookhaven, it’s going to be a great time of worship and celebration.”
Sunday morning will close the weekend, with mission speakers in various churches around the county.
